متن کاملCurrent knowledge on HIV-associated Plasmablastic Lymphoma
HIV-associated PBL is an AIDS-defining cancer, classified by WHO as a distinct entity of aggressive DLBCL. To date less than 250 cases have been published, of them 17 are pediatric. The pathogenesis of this rare disease is related to immunodeficiency, chronic immune stimulation and EBV. Clinically is a rapid growing destructive disease mainly involving the oral cavity even if extraoral and extr...
متن کاملA case of HIV‐negative plasmablastic lymphoma of the bone marrow with a unique immunophenotype
We present an interesting case of plasmablastic lymphoma, which is a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that is typically diagnosed in HIV-positive patients and has an immunophenotype that overlaps with multiple myeloma. Our patient is unique because he is HIV-negative, has primary bone marrow disease, and has an atypical immunophenotype.
متن کاملIntraocular Plasmablastic Lymphoma in a HIV Patient
Plasmablastic lymphoma (PBL) is a rare B-cell lymphoma occurring mainly in HIV patients. The tumor frequently involves extranodal sites such as the oral cavity, nasal cavity, gastrointestinal tract, skin, and lungs. The neoplastic cells are characterized by a plasmablastic appearance and typical immunophenotype that indicates plasma cell differentiation. Herein, we report a case of intraocular ...
متن کاملHHV-8 is associated with a plasmablastic variant of Castleman disease that is linked to HHV-8-positive plasmablastic lymphoma.
Castleman disease (CD) is a lymphoproliferative disorder of unknown etiology that is associated with the development of secondary tumors, including B-cell lymphoma. Human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8) (Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus) sequences have been described in some cases of multicentric Castleman disease (MCD). Using a monoclonal antibody against an HHV-8-latent nuclear antigen, we show ...
